You could get PR in just a few days after you have your content indexed if you happen to close to the day Google Updates PR, on the other hand you could have just missed the latest update and would have to wait a few months.

Pagerank is a ranking system created by Google that utilizes how many quality websites link to your site. It has nothing to do with how you specifically rank on specific keywords, and is really not an important number when it comes to online marketing.

The visible PR (what shows up on the google toolbar and on websites that will check your PR) is not updated very often. I think the last update I saw was back in January or February.
The real PageRank that Google uses to decide where to place your website on the search results is totally different. Google doesn’t tell anyone this number. There are SEO tools that will try to guess it but they aren’t exact. This real PageRank is updated all the time. As soon as Google crawls your website it generates a PageRank and when it finds links to your site it updates your PageRank. If your site is showing up in the search results it has PageRank already.
If you get a site that is indexed to link to your site it will get a real PageRank very quickly.
