I am a site owner who want to increase my site’s pagerank. it is difficult for me to understand about pagerank, because I just started making site to do online business that need high pagerank in order easily to get advertiser. Please anybody can help me?

Pagerank is essentially a measure of how many websites with high pageranks of their own link to you. The higher your pagerank, the higher you are placed in search results.

Pagerank is achieved based on the trustworthiness of each website linking to you, which is determined based on the trustworthiness of each website linking to each website linking to you and so on and so forth.

A website with that has thirty websites linking to it will not be effective if all thirty websites have no links (a low pagerank). However, if all thirty of those websites have thirty links from other websites linking to them, and all of those websites linking to them have thirty more links linking to them, the link will be more effective and further increase your pagerank.

You could compare this to real life. Say that eight people all of whom you’ve never met suggest toothbrush A, but four dentists all of whom many of your closest friends have recommended suggest toothbrush B. Which toothbrush will you choose?

You’ll probably try toothbrush B. Why? Because the dentists have a reputation to withhold due to the many people who have invested trust in them. And all of the people who have invested trust in those dentists recommend the dentist to their friends. All of their friends have faith entrusted in them by their friends that they’ll recommend a good dentist, and will thereby recommend the dentist to their friends. The cycle continues.

Pagerank works the same way but for websites. Search engines need to know which websites to invest the most trust in, and do so by increasing the pagerank of websites linked to by websites with a higher pagerank (more trusted links).

In terms of increasing your pagerank: There’s no simple answer. There are directories like Joeant.com, dir.yahoo.com and aboutus.org that have high pageranks in which you can pay to get listed on. Asking bloggers that write about the given topic to write a post about your website, or asking to be included in a links page on a website of a similar topic are also good ways to increase your pagerank.

Pagerank ranges from 0-10, 10 being best, and 0 obviously being worst. Small businesses should try aiming for a pagerank of 3 or 4. Don’t be disappointed if you can’t seem to reach a pagerank of 5, as going from a pagerank of 4-5 is a much more difficult then going from 2-3 or 3-4. Achieving a pagerank of 4 alone will most likely take a long time to achieve.
