Once you stake out certain "keywords," you literally will own it, assuming that you are the "first" to incorporate those keywords on your webpage(s). In fact, there’s no further need to upload, refresh or update anything to "maintain" or "reserve" those keywords which ultimately determine your PR at google.com.

It depends how often you get crawled. In a perfect world you want to add a new piece of content between each crawl, and once you start getting a lot of back links this becomes problematic. My blog page gets crawled pretty much 2 or three times a day now. There’s no way I could produce that much content.
