Search Engine Rankings?

Dec 13th, 2009 by admin | 2

Hello everyone… I am a web marketer… I had submitted certain articles in the top article directories… But I didn’t target my keywords into them… Now I am thinking to edit those articles and target my keywords with a link to my website… Will that impact the search engine rankings of my website positively? Or it will result into something negative?

Please guide me whether I should take this step or not…

Hi M.Minks,

But if I take away all the articles from the directories for rewriting, won’t I lose the existing links that have been working for my site. Its just that I wish to add my priority keywords in the articles so that the rankings on those keywords boost up….

Thanks Sweely…. I have been waiting for such sure shot replies….. Will try doing that ASAP…. Can you recommend me some sites whereby i can submit my articles for free and have an extra advantage in my rankings….

Saket - I recommend you re-write the articles around your targeted keywords and submit them as new articles. There are several reasons for doing this:

1. I assume your existing articles have already been indexed by search engines. In such a case they have aged some, and the older any web page is without changes, the better off you are as the links from the article(s) to your site will count more and more as the article page(s) age over time (at least with Google this is the case).

2. Adding additional articles adds additional links back to your site which is positive, while leaving the others alone. This will make your site more relevant for the keywords used in the links to your site.

Each time Google detects changes in a page they flag it, and depending on how extensive the changes are they can place the page in the "sandbox" and not count the page and any outbound links as relevant for a while…it can take several weeks for Google to then trust such a page again. They do this so people can’t make big changes and influence their search engine results immediately.

In real estate it’s all about location, location, location.

In SEO it’s all about links, links, links, so leave the ones you have alone and go create some more!

Best of luck to you!

Yes, you should definitely edit your articles and put your keywords in them. This will positively impact your search engine rankings. If I were you, I’d do it as fast as I could.
